At Community of Hope's Hope Apartments, recovering parents go through intense substance abuse treatment, counseling, life skills training and parenting classes while case managers and youth advocates keep children on track for success.

The Meyer Foundation identifies and invests in visionary leaders and effective community-based nonprofit organizations that are working to create lasting improvements in the lives of low-income people in the Washington, DC metropolitan region, and works to strengthen the region's nonprofit sector as a vital and respected partner in meeting community needs.

Beyond its grantmaking, the Foundation offers programs and resources to help grantees strengthen their management and leadership, stabilize their finances, and increase their impact.

Meyer's grantmaking and other programs are guided by a three-year strategic framework adopted by the board of directors in December 2010. Under this framework, the Meyer Foundation seeks to support:

  • Leadership: Visionary and talented nonprofit leaders who are succeeding in meeting the needs of their communities.

  • Effective Organizations: Well-managed and sustainable organizations that can demonstrate impact and become anchors of their communities over time.

  • Long-Term Impact: Organizations and strategies that are working to achieve lasting improvement in the lives of low-income people, families, and communities and the social and economic systems that support them.
